This year, I had the opportunity to participate in the distribution of blessings during the Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage. It was then that I discovered many participants experienced foot pain and skin abrasions from days of walking. Some even suffered from blisters between their toes. In gratitude for the bond formed with the Baishatun Gongtian Temple in April, Henry Da will randomly gift 200 pairs of sports or five-toe socks to those who are forming a bond with the temple through their pilgrim journey. We urge everyone to prioritize prevention over injury and prepare the essential companion for the journey, socks. Socks can effectively reduce discomfort caused by long-distance walking, and in 2022, we hope your feet will remain comfortable and healthy throughout the pilgrimage. Just a little addition: What is "xiangdeng jiao"？
From the Qing Dynasty onwards, the term " xiangdeng jiao " has been widely used in the Mazu pilgrimage. The origin of the Baishatun pilgrimage dates back nearly two hundred years, and of course, this term is also used to refer to pilgrims. " incense " and " lamp " are offerings that believers offer to gods and goddesses out of reverence and devotion, and are burned to convey respect and reach the heavens. " xiangdeng " implies the meaning of faith passed down from generation to generation, and "foot" refers to members within the organization. Therefore, in Taiwanese vocabulary, the term "incense lamp foot" is equivalent to "devout followers under the furnace" and refers to believers in folk beliefs, which means pilgrims.
